JAMES INGRAM "LIVE IN MANILA" 1991

James Ingram performed a memorable series of concerts in Manila in February 1991, during a period of international tension. Performances were held February 14, 1991, at the Folk Arts Theater in Manila. The concert took place during the Gulf War. Despite the global situation and concerns regarding safety in the Philippines at the time, Ingram famously told the local press, "You are like me... We have the same color," establishing an instant rapport with the Filipino audience.

During this Manila visit, Ingram experienced a career milestone. While singing "Just Once," the audience sang along so loudly and clearly that it was the first time in the world a crowd had done so with him. He was so overwhelmed by the response that he momentarily forgot his lines.

The Power of Great Music album released that same year. His signature songs include:"Just Once", "One Hundred Ways", "I Don't Have the Heart", "Where Did My Heart Go?", "Baby, Come to Me", "Somewhere Out There". Ingram developed a deep connection with the Philippines throughout his career, returning for numerous Valentine-themed shows in subsequent years, including a major back-to-back concert with Patti Austin in 2004.
